  • Week 8 Color Assignment: Yellow Symbolism (1 of 3)

In the top photo of the vest, yellow symbolizes happiness, energy and thoughts of being outside in the wild. In the bottom photo of the towels, yellow symbolizes warmth, happiness and thoughts of a cleansing shower or bath at the end of a long day.

  • Week 8 Color Assignment: Blue Symbolism (2 of 3)

In the top photo of the bedding, blue symbolizes tranquility as well as water and sky which are typically associated with peacefulness. In the bottom photo, the blue in my old service jacket symbolizes professionalism and loyalty.

  • Week 8 Color Assignment: Green Symbolism (3 of 3)

In the top picture, the butt pack is intended to be used outdoors, so the green in that product symbolizes life and health. For me personally, the green in my old flightsuit in the bottom photo also symbolizes life since I spent 28 years wearing that uniform. It also represents money because the Air Force was how I made my living as well as my retirement now. As far as cultural symbolism, I would side with the Japanese in that that color of green represents courage.

  • Week 8 Color Assignment: Packaging (1 of 3)

Nikwax’s use of green in the label symbolizes health, as in it’s not going to ruin the customer’s garments. Though it’s not purely organic, the symbolism is there since it has less chemicals and additives then traditional laundry detergents. The blue in the NIKWAX text symbolizes water and sky which correlates to the products use on outdoor wear.

  • Week 8 Color Assignment: Packaging (2 of 3)

Luzianne’s use of red in the packaging symbolizes passion and excitement. The white lettering symbolizes purity and goodness and the yellow symbolizes warmth and happiness. Since iced tea is normally associated with the summer time and warm weather, combined with the subdued rocking chair on a front porch looking out at the sun and trees, this color scheme emphasizes that association and happy laid back times.

  • Week 8 Color Assignment: Packaging (3 of 3)

Crown Royal’s use of purple in packaging symbolizes royalty and wealth. The use of gold in the background of the label, in the bottle cap and the stitching on the bag also have a cultural symbolism of wealth. The red in the crown symbolizes passion and excitement.

Huevos Rancheros. My favorite place for this meal is The Range. Prefer my eggs scrambled with green chiles, of course.

Pepperoni Pizza. Being in New Mexico, I actually prefer my pepperoni pizza with green chiles, but I couldn’t find any appetizing photos of that combination.

  • Week 7 Homework (1 of 3)

Picture 1 is a basic frontal shot of the Kiwanis Cabin on Sandia Crest which provided the opportunity to try two different principles. In Picture 2, the principle of FRAMING was used by stepping back a few feet from where the original shot was taken to frame the door of the cabin between two large pine trees. In Picture 3, the principle of LINES was used by moving to the corner of the cabin where the roof lines can be followed to the crystal clear New Mexico sky.
